Missed BVE2017? Discover why everyone was asking us about 4K and Facebook Live
If you couldn’t attend BVE this year, don’t worry — we’re here to let you know about the best on show and to offer you a unique video tour.
We knew 4K and live streaming to social media were hot subjects amongst broadcasters, but this year’s BVE event proved these topics were absolutely sizzling! We witnessed this each day on our stand. As annual exhibitors at the UK’s leading broadcast and media tech event, we were amazed at the volume of interest this year in our solutions that are leading the way in these two areas.
On our BVE stand, it was our ability to cover the complete workflow that had attendees’ interest piqued. We were inundated with requests for information about what solutions we could offer to cover the areas of Contribution, Acquisition, Repurposing and D.
Let’s start with 4K and why people can’t stop talking about it. In the UK, 4K UHD is getting its growth strength from the sports broadcast industry, and we are leading the way in Europe. At the forefront of this evolution in particular is Champions League, Europa League and Premier League football coverage. The quality of experience of this coverage is perfect for a highly discerning premium-subscription audience that is looking to have the in-stadium experience replicated — or even surpassed — for them.
NTT’s HC11000 4K UHD HEVC encoder can help you deliver your high-value 4K content with pristine quality, exceptional clarity and colour depth, all with crystal-clear multi-channel Dolby audio. This real-time HEVC encoder can transmit high-quality video images at lower bitrates than H.264, low latency and with low power consumption. NTT’s complementary decoder comes in both full and half-rack variants making it the industry leading broadcast solution for 4K providers. Finally broadcasters can choose to enhance quality or save on transmission costs in a single solution.
Broadcast journalists at BVE were excited about LiveU’s latest flagship portable bonded-cellular LU600. It’s made for journalists looking to deliver live over cellular, wireless, satellite and fixed IP networks to their professional broadcast and media platforms, leading the way on uplink speed, features and performance.
On the distribution end, Media Excel continues to lead the way. The HERO multi-format, scalable transcoding platform, uniquely combines the ability to do live and file-based workflows in the same platform, whether hardware, software or cloud. Add this to 4K UHD and HEVC capability, the broadest ABR output options, clever features such as DVB subtitles, clip casting and multi-language support underpinned by a powerful channel level fail-over management system.
The newest partner to our stand, Ateme, also garnered loads of attention at BVE. Ateme’s software-based Titan Live Transcoder and File Transcoder support a host of input and output formats. And when you pair Titan Live with Titan Mux, you can also create multi-programme transport streams to further streamline your broadcast applications and workflows.
One of the hottest products on our stand links up with what is arguably this year’s biggest breakthrough in content sharing — streaming live to Facebook and YouTube. The LiveU Solo — a low-cost, bonded device that lets anyone, anywhere stream an event live directly to social media platforms — is rapidly changing the world of online video and blogging. Designed for video journalists, it’s fast becoming the go-to product for anyone wanting to stream their content or event live and direct to their chosen platform or service.
Teracue’s latest small-form-factor encoders — the ENC400 H.264 dual-SDI and ENC-500 HEVC HDMI products — also continue to generate buzz. Building on Teracue’s unrivaled reputation for quality and reliability, these encoders add further capability for IPTV solutions and point-to-point video delivery. When linked to Teracue’s iCue GRID multi-screen, scalable video wall and MCR platform, you have one of the most flexible solutions for internal video distribution in the market today.
If you couldn’t make the BVE this year, and you’d like to see some of the best on show, why not take a few minutes now to take a virtual tour of our stand. It’s a quick way to keep yourself up to date on the latest innovations. The team at KitPlus worked with our Directors, Lorna Garrett and Malcolm Harland, to visit five highly interactive stations on our large stand.
We’re pleased to have had the chance to introduce so many of our existing customers to our newest products and explain how they can provide a competitive advantage. We were also delighted to meet so many new people and introduce them to the best partners and solutions in the industry.
BVE 2017 truly was our best exhibition experience ever. But with all that’s going on in broadcast and live content sharing, we can guarantee you won’t want to miss this next year!
