GPL Hits the Right Note on Live Web Streaming for UK Pop Band with LiveU

News Release - 1 December 2010

The members of a UK pop rock sensation have vowed to become “the most connected band to their fans”. Their new website has been designed to embrace how fans want to interact with the band in the digital age.

In addition to web chatting with fans every week, band members are also streaming live everything from backstage coverage of their latest video in the making, to what goes on as they travel to a gig. All this has been made possible by innovative technology provided by Garland Partners Ltd (GPL) that lets the band stream live whenever they want and from wherever they are.

Throughout the week fans are treated to an hour’s web chat live from the bands current location. They also provide backstage coverage of events, including a recent behind-the-scenes look at the making of their latest pop video, which involved over 12 hours of continuous live streaming in one day.

GPL partnered with online mobile and social video platform Kyte, to deliver the convenience and performance for the band to connect and interact with their massive fan base at any time. GPL knew the perfect way to allow Kyte to deliver concerts, webchats and backstage footage in the highest quality from anywhere; LiveU’s LU-30 unit. This provides a fully integrated 3G uplink solution delivered in a specially designed backpack. The device allows an event to be broadcast live, fast using mobile networks without having to set up an expensive and cumbersome uplink. The LiveU unit works with the LU-1000, downlink server software (stationed at Kyte’s CDN) to send out live streams onto the bands website.

The unit has provided coverage of them performing on television programmes, in their houses, behind the scenes in dressing rooms and sound checks, as well as journeys to and from various locations (70 mph live streaming).
